Thirty Three Years of Service
Aquia Harbour Volunteer Rescue Squad has been proudly serving the residents of
Stafford County since July 21st,1989.
Starting as a first response team in the Harbour, the squad quickly expanded and now serves over 18,000 homes. Our first due response area includes, Aquia Harbour, U.S. Route 1 south to Foreston Drive and north to Telegraph Road, west on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) to Park Ridge road including the subdivisions north and south of Rte. 610. Aquia Harbour Rescue is one of the busiest station in Stafford County with easy access to Route 1, I-95 and Garrisonville Road.
Our organization consists of EVOC certified drivers, EMT-Bs, EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediates, and Paramedics with a support group of administrative members. Our apparatus include Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance, and Basic Life Support Ambulance (BLS), a Response Vehicle, and Fire Engine (Engine 9 is staffed by Stafford County Career Firefighters and Paramedics).
Rescue 9 stresses training, teamwork, and community service. Membership meetings are held at our training center located at 475 Aquia Towne Center Drive, Suite 109 in the Aquia Towne Center the 2nd Wednedsay of the month at 8:00 p.m. Monthly training is provided at the station or at the county public safety building for continuing education credit. Certification classes are paid for by the squad for our membership. Senior members mentor our newly certified EMTs to provide experience and knowledge that only comes with time. Yearly community events include "Save Your Heart for Love", a first aid mini course for children, EMS Week, Aquia Harbour's 4th of July Parade, National Night Out, and the International Fall Festvial at St William of York. Community First Aid, Babysitting and Community/Professional Rescue CPR/AED classes are held year round.
